The Peace Jirga of Ghor was held in Chaghcharan, the Capital city of Ghor province in the western region of Afghanistan. The Jirga was organized by the Governor’s office and The Department of Borders and Tribal Affairs in Ghor. More than ten dozens of representatives of GIRoA, local elders and spiritual leaders from different districts of the province participated in the event.

Governor of small population tackles large problems
Gohr, Afghanistan (Feb.1) – Ghor is a relatively small province in western Afghanistan and home to roughly 2 to 2.5 percent of Afghanistan’s population.
First ANA troops to increase security in Gohr
Gohr, Afghanistan (Jan. 31) – Monday, January 31, soldiers of Afghanistan National Army (ANA) arrived from Herat to Chaghcharan, capital of Ghor province, to conduct their duties in bringing sustainable security and peace in the region. An ANA Company belonging to 3rd Battalion of 1st Brigade, 207 Corps has been deployed in Chaghcharan, Ghor province. The main purpose of deployment of ANA Company is to support and strengthen Afghanistan National Police (ANP) forces, which together with Lithuanian-led PRT are ensuring security in the province. ANA soldiers will conduct joint operations together with ANSF acting in Ghor province.
It is believed that unity of effort will increase capabilities of ANSF and will let to assume more responsibility in solving security matters.

ALP ready to protect Pusht-e Rod district villages
Herat PRT strikes IED near Camp Arena
The Herat Provincial Reconstruction Team struck a remote-detonated improvised explosive device while on convoy near Camp Arena, Herat Province, Afghanistan, Jan. 3.
The PRT was travelling in a three-vehicle convoy and the third vehicle suffered moderate damage by the IED.
The incident is under investigation.
