Qal´eh-Ye Now authorities reintegrate two former Taliban members

HERAT, Afghanistan (May 26) – Two insurgents turned in their personal weapons Sunday to authorities at the Badghis province headquarters of the Provincial Coordination Office in Qal’ eh-Ye Now.

U.S., Italian Ambassadors discuss security, governance and economic development during visit to Farah Province


United States Ambassador Karl Eikenberry and Italian Ambassador Claudio Glaentzer visited with coalition forces and Farah provincial leadership, May 23, in Farah, Afghanistan. The ambassadors met with leadership from Task Force Three Fury, Task Force South, Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) Farah and the Farah Provincial Government to discuss military and civilian operations and to assess the progress the provincial government is making

Significant progress made in construction of health clinic in Farah Province

Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) Farah met with the lead contractor and the Shib Koh district sub-governor to provide an assessment of the progress being made on the construction of Ken Clinic, a new health clinic in Ken village in Shib Koh district. Over 20 locally hired workers have made significant construction progress with the clinic, according to Dawoud, lead contractor of the project. The clinic officially broke ground on April 20 and is expected to be complete within one to two months.
