Insurgent’s Kill and Wound Local Nationals

Herat, Afghanistan (May 26,2010)-- In Pusht-e-Rod District, Farah Province- one civilian was killed and one was wounded in a suspected IED attack Wednesday. Local villagers went to investigate after hearing a blast,in afield between the villages of Chin Farsi and Dunkin, Where they discovered one male about 17 years of age wounded and one male about 15 years old dead from the blast
The villagers transported the two civilians to the Pusht Rod District Headquarters, where Afghan National Army and Coalition Forces provided stabilizing treat to the wounded male before transporting both of the males to the Farah Hospital. ANSF and Coalition Forces are investigating the explosion site to obtain additional information. “This is an example of insurgency’s promise to continue operations at the cost of the Afghan people while demonstrating a complete disregard for their actions. The Taliban are a destructive force that targets innocent Afghan civilians.  They engage in criminal activity and brutal tactics for their own gain and cannot offer long-term security, stability, or development for the people of Afghanistan” said Lt. Col. Gregory Stephens, Task Force Fury West’s Executive Officer.   “Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased. It is important this incident does not go unpunished,” said Colonel Stephens.
