On May 27, 2010 PRT Chaghcharan engineers destroyed about 500 kg of different kind of ammunition, which was collected by Disbandment of illegal armed groups (DIAG) committee.
DIAG committee informed PRT about full storage of collected explosives and asked PRT for support destroying it. In total 55 mortar shells and rockets and about 1000 machinegun rounds were handed over to PRT engineers for demolition.

Northern Badghis Province: Afghan Soldiers recover a weapons cache thanks to the local populace


Afghan soldiers of 207th Corps stationed in Bala Murghab (northern Badghis province) recovered yesterday a huge ammunition cache thanks to the directions provided by local villagers.
Eleven mortar bombs, 8 heavy artillery ammunition, 1 mine, 100 steel projectiles and several items suitable to the production of improvised explosive devices were found by the Afghan forces supported by ISAF inside an abandoned house in the surroundings of Bala Murghab. “The operation is a remarkable success not only for the quantity and quality of the ordnance recovered”, said Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Shoaybe Khan, commanding of 1st kandak / 1st brigade of 207 ANA Corp, “but also because it was initiated by people of Bala Murghab, who returned to their homes owing to the improved security and are now cooperating with their Army and Police to counter the IED threat in the area”.  The weapons found will be disposed in a safe way by ISAF engineers without harm to local civilians.





Full ANSF Success in Weapons Recovery Operation

 The 2.2 Kandak of the 207th Corps of the Afghan National Army recovered yesterday a huge quantity of ammunition in a cache over the mountains surrounding Bala Boluk, in the province of Farah.  Over 340 ammo of different kind, including 22 120mm-rockets, 18 mortar bombs, several fuses and 5 packs of explosive, were found by Afghan troops following the directions provided by a report of the National Directorate of Security. The ordnance recovered was in very good conditions and would have likely been used to prepare IEDs. In the next days, ANA and ISAF specialist assets will dispose the ammunition found in a safe and controlled way.

Operation ‘Brothers in Arms’: Afghan Mortars shoot for the first time at Shindand Garrison



The first phase of operation ‘Brothers in Arms’ was concluded last night at the artillery range of Shindand Garrison, where the Weapons Coy of the 6th Kandak 207th ANA Corps performed for the first time with their 81mm mortars after a 1-month training cycle provided by ISAF’s Italian Mountain Troops of Task-Force Centre, Regional Command West.
