Northern Badghis Province: Afghan Soldiers recover a weapons cache thanks to the local populace

Afghan soldiers of 207th Corps stationed in Bala Murghab (northern Badghis province) recovered yesterday a huge ammunition cache thanks to the directions provided by local villagers.
Eleven mortar bombs, 8 heavy artillery ammunition, 1 mine, 100 steel projectiles and several items suitable to the production of improvised explosive devices were found by the Afghan forces supported by ISAF inside an abandoned house in the surroundings of Bala Murghab. “The operation is a remarkable success not only for the quantity and quality of the ordnance recovered”, said Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Shoaybe Khan, commanding of 1st kandak / 1st brigade of 207 ANA Corp, “but also because it was initiated by people of Bala Murghab, who returned to their homes owing to the improved security and are now cooperating with their Army and Police to counter the IED threat in the area”.  The weapons found will be disposed in a safe way by ISAF engineers without harm to local civilians.
