NEW SPANISH PRT IN QAL’EH-YENOW BEGIN HUMANITARIAN OPERATIONS

BAGHDIS, Afghanistan (April 8, 2010) – Two convoys of Spanish troops began humanitarian operations for residents in Khan Homayes, which is in the Qades district just east of Qal’Eh-Ye Now, and Acheska, which is just north of Qal’Eh-Ye Now, Apr. 7.

Task Force North changes command at RC-West

Sossio Andreottola, commander of Task Force North’s 151th infantry regiment “Sassari”, rotated out with the troops under his command and Col. Massimo Biagini, commander of the incoming Alpine regiment, rotated in to RC-West.

JSSP, PRT participate in Elimination of Violence Against Women Law seminar for Farah officials

FARAH, Afghanistan (April 3, 2010) – Over twenty local judges, prosecutors, members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and members of the Ministry of Justice participated in the first of a three-day seminar focusing on the Constitution of Afghanistan and the Elimination of Violence Against Women Law (EVAWL), conducted by Justice Sector Support Program (JSSP) personnel and hosted by the Farah Provincial Reconstruction Program (PRT) in Farah, Afghanistan, April 3, 2010.

RC-West PRT inaugurates new school in Herat Province

HERAT, Afghanistan (Apr. 06) ¬–¬¬ The Regional Command West Provincial Reconstruction Team joined with local representatives yesterday morning to inaugurate a new school in Seyawashan, a village in the Gozara District in the Herat Province.

The area was once known for repeated attacks by insurgents. Now, because of increased security provided by Afghan National Security Forces and International Security Assistance Force troops, residents in the village, district and region enjoy a more stable level of security.

ANSF and RC-West work together in Farsi District
