Task Force North changes command at RC-West

HERAT, Afghanistan (Apr. 09) ¬–¬¬ Italian Brig. Gen. Alessandro
Veltri, commander of Regional Command West, presided over the ceremony this morning in which Italian Col. Sossio Andreottola, commander of Task Force North’s 151th infantry regiment “Sassari”, rotated out with the troops under his command and Col. Massimo Biagini, commander of the incoming Alpine regiment, rotated in to RC-West.

After the troops had received their awards, Andreottola expressed his heartfelt thanks to each and every one of the troops for the sacrifices they have made for the people of Afghanistan.
“I am proud your professionalism,” he said to his assembled brigade. “You are all shining examples of silent tenacity demonstrated in the conscious and responsible performance of every single action taken during the more than six months of our deployment. From Bala Morghab to Chagcharan, from cold valleys of the Sabzak Pass in the districts of Herat, you have demonstrated the ability to embrace multiple challenges with an intensity and authority worthy of the sacrifices of our fathers.”
Veltri expressed his satisfaction and gratitude to the men and women of the Sassari Brigade, "for the high sense of duty and the generosity with which, in intense days you lived alongside Afghan military and comrades of the allies.
The ‘Dimonios’ of the Task Force North have contributed to the cause of peace and stability in this country. Carry this enthusiasm and this strength of mind forward,” Veltri concluded. “This will allow you to tackle new and important challenges .”
The ceremony ended with the Biagini and Veltri wishing the Alpine Regiment a successful mission during their deployment.
