HERAT, Afghanistan (Apr. 07) ¬–¬¬ The Slovenian contingent under the command of Maj. Ante Grgantov stepped down and passed their responsibilities on to the new contingent under the command of Maj. Anze Rode during a ceremony presided over by Brg. Gen Alessando Veltri, Regional Command West commander, at Camp Arena today.
Grgantov expressed his most sincere appreciation for the excellent results achieved by the men and women who have operated under his command and wished his successor the best in continuing the Slovenian contingent’s mission.
Veltri said he appreciates the professionalism with which Grgantov led the Slovenian quota by ensuring constant support unit in adherence to the principles and purposes of ISAF’s mandate.After the ceremony the Slovenian Minister of Defense awarded the Gold Medal (1st grade) for Multinational Cooperation, the Slovenian military's highest honor, to Veltri.
