'The doctor is in' at FOB Todd


Badghis, Afghanistan (January, 07) -  A small team of U.S. Army and Air Force doctors, nurses and technicians have been hard at work for nearly five months, sustaining life, limb and sight for many people in Bala Murghab.

Herat PRT strikes IED near Camp Arena


The Herat Provincial Reconstruction Team struck a remote-detonated improvised explosive device while on convoy near Camp Arena, Herat Province, Afghanistan, Jan. 3.
 No servicemembers were injured in the incident, which happened at 6:45 p.m.

The PRT was travelling in a three-vehicle convoy and the third vehicle suffered moderate damage by the IED.

The incident is under investigation.

Shewand security shura


Farah, Afghanistan (January, 03) –Shewan shura leaders meet with Afghan government officials, Provincial Chief of Police Maj. Gen. Sayed Mohammed Qudossi, and Task Force Arrow commander Army Lt. Col. Craig Berryman to address security concerns in Shewan district. The Shewan shura met with ISAF and Afghan government representatives Dec. 30 to address recent security incidents and to understand the needs of the local community.
