The ALP is a defensive, community-oriented unit that brings self-defence, government presence, and opportunity for economic development to rural areas of Afghanistan .
The U.S supported the ALP by funding this important security initiative and partnering with the Ministry of Interior for training and technical assistance.
After the recruitment ceremony, a shura took place in Masaw, in order to discuss the security in Push-e Rod district. The attendees were: Pusht-e Rod shura president Mushi Habib Khan, Farah Chief of Police Maj. Gen. Sayed Mohammed Qudossi, Masaw Afghan Local Police commander Mohammed Nabi, and Task Force Arrow commander Army Lt. Col. Craig Berryman.
