CT-WEST / CT-NORTH Coordination meeting

Herat, Afghanistan (January, 09) - Combined Team (CT) North and CT-West met together in Forward Operational Base “Camp Arena”, Herat province (Jan.8^th), to discuss about coordination and future plans in their respective areas.

 The main purpose of the meeting was to coordinate CT-West and CT-North lines of operations in the Security, Governance, and Development, for completion of their respective sections of the “Highway 1”. The accomplishment of Afghanistan’s main communication way, will increase economy in the provinces, and also promote their development and governance.  

The meeting was attended by representatives of International Join Command (IJC), Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA), Afghan National Army (ANA), International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Afghan Border Police (ABP), Afghan Uniform Police (AUP), and National Directorate of Security (NDS) representatives.

After plenary Combined Teams split in three different workshops: Governance & Development, Operations, and Future plans, in order to identify common interest, in the three areas, for a better synchronization.

The meeting was chaired by RC-West Commander, Brigadier General Marcello Bellacicco (ITA Army), who welcomed assistance and performed the plenary season of the meeting. “Today we have gather together in order to improve the governance, development, and assistance of the Afghan population in the most beneficial way. Our regions are close together and I think it is important to share information and to coordinate our efforts and objectives to start the transition process to GIRoA”, said BG Bellacicco.
