Watering life in Murcha Khana Village

The Italian Herat Provincial Reconstruction Team restored spring water in Murcha Khana Village, Harukh District, Herat Province, Afghanistan, Feb. 02, 2011.
The village is surrounded by mountains, and the PRT restored the water supply which will be used by the population in and around Murcha Khana.
Increasing the amount of available water improves conditions for about 1,100 people, said Italian army Col. Antonino Inturri, PRT commander from the 3rd Mountain Artillery Regiment, Julia Brigade, from Udine, Italy.
Inturri thanked authorities and established future project cooperation between the PRT and the Civil-Military Co-Operation center.
More medical attention needs to be placed in Murcha Khana. There are about 250 women, 200 children and 450 men living in the area, and the nearest medical clinic is about 30 kilometers away.
Additionally, the PRT hopes to help construct new male and female schools.
But, in the mean time, fresh water will help water life in Murcha Khana Village.
