ISAF medics rescue 5 Afghan people wounded in the blast of suicide vehicle borne IED along the HW1

Five Afghan people were transferred to the ISAF medical treatment facility inside Camp Arena and provided first aid and medical treatment following the explosion of a suicide vehicle borne IED that occurred today along the Highway One near Herat city

The blast involved also a fuel tanker that settled in fire and ANSF extinguished the fire with support from Coalition fire-fighters. The area was cordoned by Afghan and ISAF forces and investigations about the blast are ongoing.

No ISAF personnel result involved in the attack.

“We stand ready to assist our Afghan partners and the Afghan people in time of need also in events such as this,” said Brigadier General Claudio Berto, ISAF Regional Command West commander “We continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Afghanistan in a fight against the enemies of this country.”
