Herat (24 July). A group of major Italian entrepreneurs operating in the industry of marble conducted a survey with ISAF helicopters in Chesht– e- Sharif, 140 Km east of Herat, where Equity Capital Mining – a local company – owns a marble cave.
The visit to the facility was made possible by the joint effort of the Italian ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence aimed at developing an important business sector of Afghanistan.
At the end of the visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Afghan company for the acquisition of Italian technology and the commitment of Italian firms to purchase Afghan marble.
The project will likely allow the creation of hundreds of jobs while training courses for cave operators will be held in Italy, starting next September.
ISAF’s Italian contingent in Herat will facilitate relations between the Afghan and Italian business partners, along with the other National components acting in the region of Herat.
