ISAF Chief of Staff visits RC-West

Lieutenant General Bruno Kasdorf, ISAF Chief of Staff, concluded yesterday a three days visit to Regional Command West.

RC-West is the ISAF command, responsible for western Afghanistan, with relevant troops contributions by Italy, USA and Spain, along other seven Nations.
Gen. Kasdorf had a meeting with Brigadier Geneneral Claudio Berto, RC-West Commander, who explained the situation in the area of responsibility about security, development and reconstruction. In the same day, ISAF COS met also in Herat city the Governor, Mr. Noristani and the prosecutor General, Mrs Maria Bashir. The agenda focused on governance and stability.
On the second day, Lt.Gen. Kasdorf visited the Forward Operating Base “Todd-Columbus” in Bala Morghab to assess the increased security level in the “bubble” created by ANSF and CFs that allowed the local population returning in their houses after abandoning several months ago for insurgens’ threats.

Later, in Qual-Ye Now, home to the Spanish Provincial Reconstruction Team, ISAF COS was briefed on operations ongoing to secure the Moqur and Sangatesh Districts and on development project all over the Badghis Province.
Gen.Kasdorf concluded his tour with a visit to the Afghan National Army 207th Corps, to discuss the improvements of ANSF, followed by a visit to the Italian PRT in Herat where he was provided with overview on the projects conducted in support to governance and development in the Province.
