ISAF Troops rescue afghan child injured after an IED explosion in Badghis Province

An ISAF Patrol rescued yesterday night an Afghan child seriously wounded by the detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the District of Morghab, Badghis Province.

The child was immediately brought to the nearby Forward Operating Base “Todd – Columbus” in Bala Morghab, where ISAF medics of the Forward Surgical Team provided first aid.

Due to the serious wounds inflicted by the explosion, the child was evacuated during the night by a Coalition Forces Helicopter to Camp “Arena” for treatment at Regional Command West's field Hospital.

IED Incidents constitute a major threat not only to the Afghan Security Forces and ISAF, but even more to innocent Afghan civilians, given their highly indiscriminate nature.

The incident is currently under investigation.
