Twenty officers of the Afghan Border Police graduated today after a 4-week advanced training course provided at Herat’s Regional Training Centre by the Italian Border and Revenue Police.
Over 600 ABP personnel, among which 14 women, have graduated from specialist training comprising customs and criminal law - with special focus on the anti-corruption legislation - and a practical phase were the attendees are taught border check-points and police procedures, including anti-riot techniques.
On the occasion of the graduation ceremony, two plates were presented to commemorate two Italian and one Afghan Border Policemen – Mohammad Rasool - who lost their lives while countering traffickers in Italy and western Afghanistan respectively. The two classrooms built by the Italian Task-Force at the Regional Training Centre will be named after the three victims.
Mohammad Rasool was killed last year in an ambush in Morichaq, at the border with Turkmenistan, after having fought bravely and insistently against a group of criminals.
