ANSF and ISAF Troops rescue Afghan child with firearm wounds in Badghis Province

An Afghan child aged 4, wounded in the chest by firearm shot, was rescued by ANA and ISAF troops today in the north of Bala Morghab, Badghis Province.


The seriously wounded child was brought by his relatives to an ANA patrol, who transferred him to the nearby Forward Operating Base “Todd – Columbus”, where ISAF medics of the Forward Surgical Team provided first aid, extracted a bullet and stabilized the young patient.

Due to the serious wounds suffered, the child was later evacuated by a Coalition Forces Helicopter to Camp “Arena” for further treatment at Regional Command West's field Hospital.

Actually the young child is under observation in the ISAF’s health facility and his conditions are improving.

The incident is currently under investigation.
