NUOVI PROGETTI NELLA CITTÀ DI HERAT INAUGURATI DAL PROVINCIAL RECONSTRUCTION TEAM DEL REGIONAL COMMAND WEST


development project carried out in cooperation with the Department of Education of Herat province, the Provincial Reconstruction Team of Regional Command West has opened in the district of Mirman Hayati, in Herat, a new female school.





The building - a structure on two floors worth 150 thousand euros, made by companies and local workers thanks to funds made available by the Italian Ministry of Defense - consisting of twenty classrooms, provided with all the general services (some of which supplied by Italian Cooperation for Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and it will allow the frequency of lessons about two thousand schoolgirls. At the opening ceremony, present Deputy Governor of Herat, Asiludim JAMI, Deputy Head of Department of Education, Basir Ahman AEWIN, the mayor of Herat, Alim TRAKI, some important representatives of Provincial Council and numerous other local authorities, in the presence of Commander of Regional Command West Brigadier General Alessandro VELTRI and the Commander of the Provincial Reconstruction Team, Colonel Claudio DEI.
Addressing the young schoolgirls of Mirman Hayati, that in a few days, will start with the lessons of the new school year, General VELTRI stressed "the importance of education of new generations, a fundamental area for the future of the Country, where women - as highlighted in the 8th of March - are called to be increasingly promoting the welfare and development and conscious builders of peace and prosperity ".The ceremony ended with the delivery of school backpacks, notebooks, pens and stationery. Later, General VELTRI went to the Court of Appeals in Herat where the presence of the President of the Court, Ghari KARIMI, numerous governmental and judicial authorities, there was a significant donation of furnishing materials, modern equipment such as personal computers, printers, scanners, copiers and office supplies, for the completion of the offices and the simplification of administrative procedures.
This donation has integrated the significant refurbishment of the Courtroom's ceilings ever done in a very short time thanks to the Italian Provincial Reconstruction Team.Finally, as part of initiatives aimed in supporting Afghanistan institutions, extending the government authority to bring stability, to promote development and reconstruction of the area, two additional activities took place respectively at the Governorate headquarters of Herat and at Provincial Council, the presence of the Commander of Regional Command West, Brigadier General Alessandro VELTRI.The first concerns the construction of a new parking - complete of car wash system - and a guest house consists of three rooms with related services to be allocated to staff in the service of the Governorate.The work, worth about 45 thousand euros, was inaugurated in the presence of the Governor of Herat, Yusuf NURISTANI, who thanked the General VELTRI "for the umpteenth proof of proximity of the Regional Command West to the needs of the main governmental institutions of province of Herat".The second regards the donation of furnishing materials, modern equipment such as personal computers, printers, scanners, copiers and office supplies, for the completion of the offices of the Provincial Council, the modern building worth 112 thousand euros and made by Provincial Reconstruction Team and inaugurated on last January 16th, in the presence of the top local government.  The President of the Provincial Council, Haider ZADA, expressed his gratitude for the umpteenth donation made by the Provincial Reconstruction Team of Regional Command West, which - as stated by General VELTRI - "continue to promote every suitable initiative aimed to support the Afghan authorities in governance to a growing awareness and involvement of a ruling class capable of creating as soon as possible and in autonomous manner, the necessary conditions for stability, development and reconstruction of the area ".
