Today (July, 12th) in Camp “Arena”, home of ISAF Regional Command West, the handover ceremony as Chief of Staff was held between Spanish Army’s Colonel Jesus de Miguel and Colonel Gabriel Martinez Valera.
The handover ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Claudio Berto, ISAF RC-W Commander and by a large representative of the RC-W Headquarters’ Staff belonging to the nations that contribute troops for the ISAF mission in the western Afghanistan, in particular Italy, United States and Spain.
In his farewell speech, Colonel De Miguel said “I’m proud and honoured for serving in the ISAF Regional Command West and to have been part of a team like this. I’m sure that our sacrifices and those of our families will be recompensed by the certainty we are serving in a mission of vital importance to the people of Afghanistan and to our Countries.”
