HERAT, Afghanistan (Mar. 24) – As part of activities to support the governance carried out in support of the Afghan authorities, an important new project was completed in Herat province by the Italian Provincial Reconstruction Team of the Regional Command West.
This is the conclusion of the renovation work of the government building in the district of Injil, built entirely by local firms and labor.
The project, amounting to approximately 66 thousand euros, is part of a European Community program called "Support to Provincial Governance" that the Italian Provincial Reconstruction Team of Regional Command West is developing in the city of Herat and in the Zenda Jan district where will be followed a short time, an additional investment of about 80 thousand euros for the realization of training courses for staff planned to be employed in provincial government offices.Under the same project, the last February, were donated furnishing materials, modern equipment and supplies, valued at over one hundred thousand euros for the completion of the offices of the Herat Governorate and Injil and Zenda Jan governmental Districts.The ceremony of completion of works was attended by Commander of Regional Command West - Brigadier General Alessandro VELTRI - Deputy Governor of Herat, Asiludim JAMI, the Governor of the District of Injil, Soofe Abdul RAOF, Commander of the Provincial Reconstruction Team, Colonel Claudio DEI and many other local authorities.The Deputy Governor of Herat, Asiludim JAMI, thanked the General VELTRI "for the continuous support provided by the Regional Command West to provincial government authorities through the constant and tangible reconstruction and development action carried out even in the core areas of health, education, and security.
