Thirteen explosive devices neutralized

Herat, Afghanistan (October, 14th) – Thirteen explosive devices were disposed today by ISAF forces in partnership with Afghan security forces in two different locations in western Afghanistan.
The ISAF forces deployed in Bala Murghab alongside the Afghan National Army, to expand and protect the safe area implemented over the last six months where 7,000 civilians returned to their homes, neutralized six improvised explosive devices.
Four of the weapons consisted of home made explosive devices, another was a 107 mm rocket with matchbox pressure plate, and the sixth was an antipersonnel mine. The engineers specialist team performed the disposal in a safe way on the spot, without causing harm to the local populace.
In Adraskan, seven unexploded ordnances plus one jug filled with home-made explosive were safely destroyed by the ISAF Task Force based in Shindand. The weapons, consisting of 4 anti-tank and 3 anti-personnel mines had been previously recovered by the Afghan security forces in the district of Adraskan, in the province of Herat.
“The Afghan security forces and ISAF are particularly committed together to counter the IED threat, which is causing many victims among the population and the international and national troops”, said Lieutenant Colonel Najibullah, the spokesperson of the 207th Corps of the Afghan National Army.
