Herat, Afghanistan (October, 11th) – The “security bubble” provided by ANP and ANA, in cooperation with American and Italian TF,s in Bala Morghab; guarantees its freedom for working activity and economical development. In particular is the agriculture, the main economical activity in the Morghab valley, which takes benefit of the security area.
Outside the security bubble, insurgents constantly try to destabilize peace by breaking the irrigation channels which provide water to the corn harvest. Insurgents use cutting water as a measure of pressure towards the local population.
The Spanish PRT has provided local farmers with water pumps, as an alternative irrigation system to use in case of channel destruction by insurgents. This current season is very sensitive because corn fields are their latest maturation stage.
With this new project the Spanish PRT has confirmed how the Afghan population understand the benefits of a legitimate and free social economic development.
