Afghan and ISAF Troops of RC-W find weapons cache in Moqur District, Badghis province

The partnership between Afghan National Security Forces and troops of ISAF Regional Command West led today to the seizure of a huge ammunition cache in Moqur District, Badghis province.

The information about the location of the ammunitions cache was provided by local people to the ISAF’s troops. Along with the Afghan National Police, Coalition Forces went immediately on the spot and cordoned the area to avoid harming non-combatant civilians and ISAF Specialist Team conducted a searching operation to locate the cache. In effect, after few hours, the friendly forces found the cache: 178 82mm mortar shells in perfect conditions.

Taking into account that in this area, the last improvised explosive devices found or activated, were composed by approximately six grenades each one, the insurgency has lost with this found cache at least 30 potential IEDs that should have been used to harm to innocent Afghan people or Afghan National Security and Coalition Forces.

The ordnances found in the cache were collected and moved to a safe place to be destroyed in the next future.

The operation was conducted without harming non-combatant civilians.
