Badghis, Afghanistan (December 25) – The Spanish Task Force (TF) Badghis has completed the new Observation Post (OP) Echo in their Area of responsibility.
The OP has been accomplished by the TF Badghis in cooperation with the Spanish engineer unit and the Italian TF Fenice, which provided helicopter transportation for the heavy materials and diggers. The operation counted also with the cooperation of the 6/1 Afghan National Army kandak, which provided security and freedom of movement during the construction works.
The new OP will improve freedom of movement in the province of Badghis for ISAF, ANSF and local population, while increasing security for the local workers completing the “Ring Road”. This is the main communication way of the country which will join the main cities once the Badghis section is completed.
In October 2010 started the works for completing the last sector of the “Ring Road”. The sector consists of 53 km joining the vicinities of Moqur and Darrah I Bum.
