Mr. Delbar stress the importance of maintaining open and in good conditions the route which joins the vicinities of Qal-eh-ye-now, Qades and Jawand. This route is the only way to reach the neediest areas and in consequence the key point for development in the area.
The Shura was attended by 80 local authorities from Gulchin, representatives of the Provincial Council for Education and Health, representatives of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), representatives of the Afghan National Police (ANP), and 200 inhabitants of Gulchin. This Shura is a continuity of the Badghis Peace Jirga which took place on October 30, where Mr. Delbar manifested the importance of being unified to gain security in Badghis, despite ethnics, tribes, and ideologies.
ISAF presence in the Shura wants to stress the great impact that security has on development. As Afghan security capabilities improve, Alliance tasks supporting institutions can be progressively transferred to Afghan control.
