NEW SEAT FOR BALA MORGHAB DISTRICT MANAGER

HERAT, Afghanistan (Mar. 12) – The Commander of Regional Command West, Brigadier General Alessandro VELTRI - came yesterday to the FOB (Forward Operating Base) in Bala Morghab that houses the italian soldiers of Task Force North, based 151st Infantry Regiment of Brigade "Sassari" under the command of Colonel Sossio ANDREOTTOLA.The General VELTRI’s purpose of the visit, a meeting with the governor of Badghis province, Delbar ARHAM, and with the provincial police chief, General Ekram SAMEH, with whom he has gone to the village of Bala Morghab to attend the concluding ceremony of the renovation work of the district government building, a project worth about forty-five thousand euros funded by the Regional Command West and entirely produced by local companies and workers.

 Governor ARHAM addressing to the authorities and the many elders present at the event, thanked the General VELTRI for the realization of this important project to support governance. "All of us here have to work together, day after day, to improve the process of growth and development of the area. A prosperous and peaceful province is in fact based on common action against the insurgent activity and on the strong support of the legitimate representatives of government action in the district of Morghab."Therefore General VELTRI addressed to the present the importance of the presence of ISAF in the province, "a presence aimed to the stability and to reach that is necessary to achieve the agreement of the population. This building is the seat from which to direct all efforts for a more and more coordination in reconstruction and development, made possible today thanks to the growing level of trust, integration and harmony established between the local security forces and soldiers of Regional Command West. The presence of a child among us - concluded the General VELTRI referring to the son of one of the elders present at the Shura - is a signal that together we can truly believe in a future of peace and prosperity".After the ceremony, General VELTRI met the staff of the Afghan security forces and ISAF which includes, in addition to the Italians, the U.S. military. "Your efforts - said the General VELTRI - are now more than ever appreciated by local population. The only thing that differentiates us is the color of the uniforms but not the reason for our presence here. A presence that aims to the common goal: the prosperity of this great Country and the safety of its people, for which some of our comrades lost their lives. In their memory, and for their families, I invite you to observe a minute of silence and to look forward, together, for the success of mission".
