Explosive devices neutralized in western Afghanistan

Herat, Afghanistan (November, 19th) – Five explosive devices and a cache were disposed today by ISAF soldiers in partnership with Afghan security forces in different locations in western Afghanistan.

The ISAF forces deployed in Bala Murghab alongside the Afghan National Army, to expand and protect the safe area implemented over the last six months where 7,000 civilians returned to their homes, neutralized two improvised explosive devices. The devices were two 107 mm rockets with matchbox pressure plate.
In Bala Morghab unexploded ordnance (UXO) appeared while performing ground workings. The UXO consisted of sub-ammunition and it was blasted in place by ISAF forces.
In Bakwa two 107 mm rockets connected with electrical wires were discovered. The rockets were aiming towards the ISAF Forward Operational Base (FOB) Lavaredo.
In Bala Baluk ISAF forces in an operation with the ANA forces, found a cache in the vicinity of Sheykh Lala. The cache consisted of 2 X heads of 107mm rockets, 1 PG-7 rocket launcher, 1 x 82 mm mortar round and a bag full of 7,62 mm bullets.
