ISAF medics treat Afghan stabbing victim
ISAF medics from the Farah Forward Surgical Team treated a local Afghan citizen who was injured in Korgy village in the vicinity of Farah City during a stabbing attack Nov. 10.
In order to receive further surgical care from US medics, the victim was transferred from Farah City Hospital to Forward Operating Base Farah, where the FST medics performed life-saving surgery and stabilized the patient, who suffered from more than 15 stab wounds, a slashed throat and a punctured liver and abdomen.
Following hours of surgery, the patient was medically evacuated by a U.S. Air Force aircraft to Camp Dwyer in Helmand Province to undergo further intensive care.

Spanish President visits Spanish troops in Regional Command West
Badghis, Afghanistan (November 07) – The Spanish President, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, visited yesterday the Spanish troops deployed in the Forward Operational Base (FOB) Ruy Gonzalez de Clavijo in Qal-eh-ye now.The president was accompanied by the Ministry of Defence, Mrs. Carmen Chancon, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Trinidad Jimenez.
President Zapatero seized the visit to met with the Badghis Governor, Mr. Delbar Jan Arman, expressing him that the Spanish troops are not here to remain for ever, but their compromise with the Afghan population is solid and they will stay until the Afghan Government guarantees its security.
President Zapatero also met with the Regional Command West Commander Brigadier General Giacomo Bellacicco, and the Spanish Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) Chief, Colonel Martinez Tracasa.
Mr. Zapatero is today in Kabul, where he is meeting with President Karzai and the International Security Assistance Force Commander, General David Petreus, before his departure back to Spain.

November starts with a Shura in Badghis.
Badghis, Afghanistan (November 02) – On 1st November took place a Shura in the vicinity of Gulchin. The Shura was promoted by the Badghis Governor, Mr.Delbar Jan Arman, with the aim of improving development by increasing the security in the province.
ISAF treats young boy
Badghis, Afghanistan (November 02) – A 12 years old boy, named Samir Groule, was brought yesterday to Forward Operating Base (FOB) Rickets for care after sustaining severe injuries from a detonator blast.
The young boy was playing with the detonator when the blast took place. He lost three fingers from his right hand and had to be referred to the ROLE 1 hospital in Bala Murghab. The boy is going to be transferred today back to FOB Rickets were he is attended by his family.

BADGHIS, Afghanistan (October 30) – The Peace Jirga celebrated yesterday in the Guest House of in Qal-eh-ye-now District of Badghis Province, has reaffirmed the close working relationship between provincial and district authorities, National Directorate of Security (NDS) program, Afghan National Police (ANP), Spanish Provisional Reconstruction Team (PRT) and the Badghis Province Governor (Mr.Delbar Jan Arman), host of the Jirga.

ISAF winteritarion support to Jawand district
Badghis, Afghanistan (October, 27) – The Spanish Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) has implemented a winteritation project in the province of Jawand.
The project consisted of delivering 75 rice sacks (25 kg each), 300 cooking oil cans (3 lts each), 60 blankets, and 15 wood heaters. The beneficiaries are the Jawand district police and some selected district families, which are isolated and needy.
The District Governor, Mr. Jawand Mirza Ali, the Jawand Chief of Police, Mr. Mohammad Yar, and the members of the Provincial Council, Mr.Faizula and Mr. Abdul Kabir, witnessed the delivery.
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) is performing winteritation projects in order to mitigate its effects on the local population. All projects are coodinated with local authorities, who are responsible for finding the more needy beneficiaries.

ANA and ISAF neutralize 5 IED,s in Western Afghanistan
Badghis, Afghanistan (October, 26) – A total of 5 Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), have been disposed today by ISAF forces in partnership with Afghan National Army (ANA), during a reconnaissance operation in western Afghanistan. All IEDS,s were place along the same route from Qal-eh-ye now to Murghab. 4 IED,s consisted of a yellow oil can jug filled with explosive.
The third and fourth IED,s appeared 2 and 4 kms north respectively. The type of explosive of the fifth IED could not be determined. All IED,s were cleared by ANA on the spot, without causing harm to local population.

ISAF forces support Afghan troops during attack against UNAMA
HERAT, Afghanistan (Oct. 23) ¬–¬¬ ISAF forces intervened today with flight assets to support Afghan security forces during an attack against the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan building in Guzara village, South of Herat city.
During the action, ISAF’s Quick Reaction Force was ready to intervene in support of Afghan security forces if requested.
ANA and ANP troops managed the situation on the ground with supervision from coalition mentors.

ISAF INAUGURATES A NEW SCHOOL IN AB SHORA
Herat, Afghanistan (October 19) – Classes have started today in the new school created by the Spanish PRT in the vicinity of Ab Shora (Badghis). The school was inaugurated by the ESP PRT Chief, Captain Campos and the project responsible Mr. Wahid Rahimy. The cost of the project was 39.100 $ which came from the Spanish Minister of Defense Operational Command. The school consists of 4 classrooms and its furniture, 60 double tables, blackboards, chairs, and toilets.
The Spanish PRT also provided to the vicinity of Ab Shora, with 12 snow deposits of 14 m2 each.

PRT FARAH MEDICS TREAT ANA SOLDIER AFTER IED BLAST.
Herat, Afghanistan (October, 10th) – An Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier was brought to Forward Operating Base (FOB) Farah for treatment after a improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in the northern part of Pusht-e-Rod district, Afghanistan, Oct. 10.
The ANA soldier’s injuries included multiple fragment wounds to the right arm leg, and lacerations to the right shoulder and face.
Currently the ANA solider is undergoing surgery, and will be transported to another hospital for further treatment if necessary.
Two other ANA soldiers were injured in the incident and brought to an aid station in Pusht-e-Rod for treatment and later flown to a more comprehensive medical care unit.
